On 25th May 2018 the Data Protection law changes and businesses must ensure they adhere to the new General Data Protection Regulation.
The Information Commissioner’s Office has detailed guidance on their website (ico.org.uk) which we suggest you refer to if you hold and process personal data (not company data).
This means any information relating to an identifiable person, such as name, location data and identification number.
Briefly, the general principles of the new regulation include that data should be processed securely, lawfully and accurately. The data must be relevant and only collected for a legitimate purpose. The data should not be kept for longer than necessary.
A breach of personal data must be reported within 72 hours of you becoming aware of the breach.
Please refer to the ICO website to ensure you are compliant by 25 May 2018.
